ENERGY MONTH ZEROS IN ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 06, 2018 (SKNIS): In commemoration of the CARICOM Energy Month 2018, Minister of Utilities, the Honourable Ian “Patches” Liburd, said that the government is zeroing in on energy efficiency in the public sector.

“Our ministry has been a key player in the Bureau of Standards’ Regional Energy Efficiency Building Code project and also in the Ministry of Environment’s Electric School Bus pilot project,” said the Minister, while adding that these projects will help to make the federation more environmentally friendly.

The Minister stated that there is currently an energy audit being conducted at sixteen (16) government buildings to determine measures that can be taken to make the buildings more energy efficient.

CLEAN ENERGY PROJECTS AND BENEFITS TO BE HIGHLIGHTED ON “WORKING FOR YOU”
Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 06, 2018 (SKNIS): Several clean energy initiatives are currently underway in the federation with the aim of providing a service that is more reliable and affordable.

What those projects are and how they benefit all of us will be discussed in greater detail on the weekly radio and television programme “Working for You” on Wednesday, November 07, 2018.

The special guests will be Bertill Browne, Director of the Energy Unit; Rhon Boddie, Director of the Urban Development Unit; and Gawain Fraites, Public Relations Officer at the St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC).

YOUTH GROUPS ENCOURAGED TO SEIZE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES BY REGISTERING WITH DEPARTMENT OF YOUTH EMPOWERMENT 
Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 06, 2018 (SKNIS): First Aid and CPR training organized by the Department of Youth Empowerment is one of the many benefits that youth groups and youth-serving organizations can enjoy by registering with the government department.

This point was made at Saturday’s (November 03, 2018) First Aid and CPR Training held at the Red Cross Headquarters. Acting Director of Youth, Pierre Liburd, urged the trainees to encourage their peers to register their respective groups with the Department of Youth Empowerment at no cost.
