The Police are investigating an armed robbery reported as having occurred on October 11th, 2024, in Cotton Ground, Nevis. The incident was reported by Shawn Kissoon of Rawlins Pasture, Nevis, a privately employed landscaper in the area.

YOUTH LEAGUE FINALISTS CONFIRMED


The finalists for the 2024 Keith Gumbs U17 Tier 1 League and the Rams U13 Premier
Youth Cup have been decided after exciting semi-final encounters. In the Keith Gumbs
League semi-finals on Thursday October 10, Dieppe Bay defeated Newtown United 2-1.
Dieppe Bay took a 2-0 first half lead, only for Newtown to claw one back late in the
second half. Newtown had a lifeline by earning a penalty in the dying moments of the
match, but the goalkeeping heroics from the Dieppe Bay goalkeeper ensured they
walked away with the victory.

OLD ROAD, VILLAGE WIN SKNFA YOUTH LEAGUE TITLES


MFCR Old Road United Jets and the Village Superstars won two SKNFA Youth
League titles recently. Old Road won the Keith Gumbs U17 Tier 2 League title and
Village won the Atiba Harris U15 League (Tier 1) title. Old Road dispatched of St. Paul’s
United 7-0, while Village Superstars got the better of Dieppe Bay 2-1 to win their
respective crowns. Coach of the Old Road U17 team Jhevon Hendricks said after the
match that the team adapted to his playing philosophy, which helped them win the title.
“In terms of the philosophy, I’m very proud of my team because we set out a goal and a
way we want to play for this season and they executed very well. Shocked me as well,”
he said. “We did a series of work on the training ground, starting from pre-season;
working our way to our playing style, integrating different players,” he added.

SUGAR BOYZ CLIP BVI TO STAY ON TOP IN NATIONS LEAGUE


The St. Kitts and Nevis Senior Men’s National team maintained their position at the top
of their group in League C of the Concacaf Nations League, when they dispatched of
the BVI 3-1 at Warner Park on Wednesday October 9. The Sugar Boyz in front of a
large crowd at the stadium, took the lead in the 25 th minute thanks to a header from
Malique Roberts. That lead was later doubled in 12 minutes thanks to a thunderous
strike from Gvaune Amory. BVI got one back at the start of the second half but towards
the end of the match, the Sugar Boyz put the game out of reach thanks to an own goal
from Ikyah Williams.

NEWTOWN UNITED WIN 2024 ELVIS BROWNE WOMEN’S LEAGUE


Newtown United Women have reclaimed the title of queens of St. Kitts and Nevis
women’s football after they won the Elvis ‘Star’ Brown Women’s league finals recently,
defeating defending champions MFCR Old Road United Lady Jets 3-1. After the match
Coach St. Clair Morris of Newtown, spoke about what it felt like to lead the women back
to the title. “The president of Newtown gave me a task to do and he told me I have to
win this cup to bring back some recognition to Newtown and the community itself and
the club. So we decided to have a plan and so we made sure we got the girls training
and training on a regular basis,” Coach Morris said. “Next season…we’re going to try to
bring in some younger players. As you can see a number of senior players are going to
retire…at least two are going to retire. So what we’re going to do for next season, we’re
going to try to recruit some youngsters and bring them in the team to make the team
stronger,” he added.
