WORLD ACCREDITATION DAY FOCUSES ON CONSTRUCTION AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 09, 2017 (SKNIS): In celebration of World Accreditation Day 2017, on June 09, the St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards (SKNBS) hosted a seminar, which was focused around this year’s theme “Delivering Confidence in Construction and the Built Environment.”

The seminar, which was held at the SKNBS office at La Guerite, not only discussed issues related to the theme, but involved accreditation and/or certification in other sectors, including the medical and testing laboratories, manufacturing and the like.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 09, 2017 (SKNIS): The Order Paper has been circulated for a Sitting of the National Assembly to be held at the National Assembly Chambers, Government Headquarters, Basseterre, on Tuesday 13th June, 2017, at 10:00 am.

Several Bills will come before the House, some for their first reading and others for their second reading.

The Honourable Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Sustainable Development, National Security, People Empowerment and Constituency Empowerment, Dr. Timothy Harris, will seek leave to introduce and have read a first time Public Accounts Committee Bill and Saint Christopher and Nevis Citizenship (CBI Escrow Accounts) Bill.

LIAT Goes To Court To Get Pilots Back in the Skies

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, Friday June 9, 2017 – With pilots continuing strike action that has forced the cancellation and delays of flights across the region, LIAT has decided to turn to the court for help.

Management of the airline has filed an application for a court injunction to end the strike that began on Wednesday as pilots refuse to fly LIAT’s ATR 72 series aircraft without additional compensation.

Four suspects in police custody after failed Scotiabank robbery

One of the suspects, source saying his name is Otto from Saint Kitts.

This morning Friday June 9th at approximately 09.00 a.m. the 911 Emergency Dispatch received several calls of an armed robbery at Scotia Bank in Simpson Bay involving several men. The calls which came in also gave descriptions of the suspects and the type of vehicles they were driving in.

Red alert for Chinese fugitives removed, but no action on handover to Beijing

BASSETERRE, ST.KITTS, June 8th 2017 An Interpol red alert issued for Chinese fugitive Ren Biao and his who are also economic citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis, was lifted months before they were arrested in Nevis last week, but the request for them to be handed over to the authorities in Beijing to face fraud charges continue to be ignored by Basseterre.

Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris told a press conference last week Wednesday that the arrest by police in Nevis was in compliance with the red alert issued by Interpol in July 2014.
