ACTING LABOUR PS GEARED UP TO PROTECT WORKERS’ RIGHTS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 04, 2017 (SKNIS): The new Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Ron Dublin-Collins, said that he is settling into his role and is prepared to lead the staff and support the Minister of Labour in protecting the rights of workers in St. Kitts and Nevis.

“Our vision is to have a very strong and active department that supports the workforce, ensures that conditions within the workplace will lead to a progressive and strong labour force, [and] that … decent work conditions exist,” Mr. Dublin-Collins said. “That in itself creates a culture where individuals’ lives can improve.”

REVAMPED ST.KITTS-NEVIS CBI PROGRAMME LAUDED BY THE IMF

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MAY 4TH, 2017 (PRESS SEC) – A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) commended the Government yesterday, Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017, on its efforts to strengthen St. Kitts and Nevis’ Citizenship-by-Investment (CBI) program, the oldest of its kind in the world.

“I would like to commend the government for strengthening the processes, particularly the due diligence processes,” Ms. Inci Otker, the IMF mission chief on the 2017 Article Four (IV) Consultation to St. Kitts and Nevis, told the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, and members of the Federal Cabinet yesterday.

Time/Date: May 2, 2017. Report received approximately 11 p.m. Incident occurred about 11 pm.

Buckie Got It…..Two masked male suspects, one armed with a handgun both about 6ft tall

A Community Member, who is currently a house-guest of a another Community Member who is not on island, reported that she exited the driver’s side of her parked vehicle and noticed her passenger door was ajar. When she turned back to close the car door, two males approached her and attempted to hold her down and tape her mouth shut. She told them she had money, and they released her, took the vehicle, her purse containing her ID, drivers license and cell phone and drove toward the direction of Conaree/Cayon. The vehicle is identified as a white Wrangler from Bullseye car rental. No injuries reported.
