Persons 50 years and older are now eligible to register to receive the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine.

This is down from the previous 60 years and older requirement.

Today Monday, May 10, 2021, the Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation from the Ezra Long Laboratory of 19 new cases of COVID-19. This is from a total of 244 samples taken during the period May 6, 2021, to May 8, 2021. These samples were processed on May 8, 2021, and May 9, 2021.

Face-to-face classes are to resume in schools on Monday, May 10 for students sitting exit examinations.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement on Tuesday during a ministerial statement in the House of Representatives. He noted that a significant number of students have not benefitted from face-to-face instructions since schools were closed on March 13, 2020, some three days after Jamaica confirmed its first case of COVID-19.
