Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 24, 2018 (SKNIS): The Dr. Timothy Harris-Led Team Unity Administration is expressing high confidence that a Motion of No Confidence (MONC) brought by the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Denzil Douglas, will be defeated in the National Assembly on Christmas Eve, the day that the Government launched its historic Poverty Alleviation Programme bringing joy and smiles to households that make less than EC$3,000 per month. Additionally, ten days ago public servants were given an extra month’s salary, commonly known as a “double salary” making it three years in a row and something never done by any administration in the country’s history.

DEBIT CARD SYSTEM TO BE PUT IN PLACE FOR THE POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROGRAMME IN ST. KITTS-NEVIS
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 24, 2018 (SKNIS): Prime Minister and Minister of Sustainable Development, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, has urged persons benefiting from the Poverty Alleviation Programme, which provides EC$500 assistance monthly, to spend the money wisely. To ensure this, a debit card system will be put in place.

At the programme launch on December 24 at Independence Square, the prime minister said that the money should only be spent on essentials. The debit card system will be rolled out by the end of January/early February, 2019. The debit card can only be used with approved vendors.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 24, 2018 (SKNIS): History was made when in keeping with the Team Unity Manifesto entitled “Prosperity for All”, the government, today, December 24, delivered on another 2015 campaign promise with the Launch of the Poverty Alleviation Programme.

At the launch at Independence Square, Basseterre, Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said that “in that contract with the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, we gave our word to provide support in the amount of EC$500 per month to households whose gross monthly was less than EC$3,000. Today, we have delivered!”

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 23, 2018 (SKNIS): St. Kitts and Nevis had much to celebrate on December 22 as the Federation not only welcomed for the first time Sun Country Airlines, but also welcomed the largest number of flights and passengers in any given day.

Sun Country Flight SY777 touched down to the RL Bradshaw International Airport and was greeted by a water salute from the Fire Department. As passengers disembarked the airplane, they were entertained to a masquerade performance.
