Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 29, 2018 (SKNIS): With the increased use of technology in everyday life, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis continues to be a leader in deploying Information Communication and Technologies (ICTs) and enhancing efficiencies and citizen- centric services.

The 2017 ICT Development Index compiled by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), ranked St. Kitts and Nevis 37 out of 176 countries.

See Prime Minister Harris Deliver Inspiring Remarks at the Customs & Excise Gala and Awards

The picture above was taken after a church service on Sunday, October 21st, 2018 to mark the start of the 60th anniversary celebrations for the Customs and Excise Department in the Federation. The church service was held at Charlestown Methodist Church in Nevis.
Speaking on Saturday, October 27th, 2018 at the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony commemorating 60 years of the St. Kitts-Nevis Customs and Excise Department, Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said, “Tonight, as our thoughts are focused on saluting excellence and on recognizing the contributions of Retired Comptrollers of Customs who helped to lead the way over these many decades, I think of how proud we should all be that the intellectual father of the US Customs Service was none other than Nevis’ very own Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton immigrated to America in October 1772 and became one of its founding fathers and its first Treasury Secretary.”

PAST AND PRESENT CUSTOMS OFFICERS RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR DEDICATION TO SERVICE

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 29, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – As it observes its 60th anniversary of serving the Federation, the St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department took time out to duly recognize the dedication and commitment of seventeen (17) current and past officers, whose services helped to shape the revenue collection agency.

This was done at a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The event formed part of a week of activities which was observed under the theme, “60 Years of Dedicated Service, Innovation and Advancement.”
