POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTING INCIDENT AT NEW ROAD

 Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 25, 2018 (RSCNPF): Police are investigating an incident in which a man was shot and injured in the New Road area.

Police received the report sometime after 3 p.m. on September 23. Preliminary investigations so far have revealed that 25-year-old Glenford Percival of New Road Housing Project received gunshot injuries to his leg. His assailants are said to have been transported in a dark coloured, heavily tinted vehicle while they shot at him. He also sustained other bruises while running from the area. Percival is currently warded at the J.N.F. Hospital in a stable condition where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing and persons with information regarding the incident are urged to contact the Violent Crime Unit by dialing 467-1887 or 467-1888, 662-3468.

Not many persons in the church left without congratulating nationals of Saint Kitts and Nevis on their 35th Anniversary of Independence after the soul-moving service at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Taipei, Taiwan on the 16th of September 2018.

Organized by the Embassy of Saint Christopher and Nevis in the Republic of China (Taiwan), nationals of Saint Kitts and Nevis welcomed friends, guests and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including H.E. Vice Minister José María Liu, Ambassadors and Representatives of Foreign and Trade offices in Taipei, and other officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan to the packed church.

The Panatastics thrills audiences in Taiwan as part of 35/35 celebrations
On 18th September 2018, murmurs of awe filled the Shih Chien University Auditorium as those entering the venue got a glimpse of the steel pans on stage to be played by the “Pantastics” steelpan orchestra. They were there to take part in the much-awaited concert, “A Musical Encounter” that was organized by the Embassy of Saint Christopher and Nevis in The Republic of China (Taiwan) as part of the 35th Anniversary of Independence celebrations of Saint Kitts and Nevis and also to commemorate 35 years of diplomatic relations between Saint Kitts and Taiwan.

MINISTER HAMILTON URGES STAKEHOLDERS TO INCREASE FOOD SAFETY MEASURES AT START OF PESTICIDE AWARENESS WEEK 2018

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 24, 2018 (SKNIS): Pesticide Awareness Week, which is being celebrated in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis from September 23rd to 28th under the theme “Increase Food Safety, Reduce Dependency on Pesticides-Adapt Integrated Pest Management (IPM)” will highlight the efforts of increasing food safety measures in the Federation.

In addressing the nation to commemorate the launch of Pesticide Awareness Week 2018, Minister of Agriculture, the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, said that the safety and well-being of the consumer is the government’s utmost responsibility and goal.
