Culturama 43 Launched, Pageant Contestants Revealed!

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN); The Charlestown Waterfront was abuzz with activity Friday night (June 16) for the launch of Culturama 43 and reveal of pageant contestants.

The festivities began with a mini parade through the streets of Charlestown late Friday afternoon with pageant contestants on display, along with troupe costumes, and local entertainers.

National Security official not proud of crime statistics in St. Kitts and Nevis

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 17TH 2017 – Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Mr. Osmond Petty has admitted that crime statistics in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis are not to be proud of.

Mr. Petty’s statement comes following the tragic discovery in a shallow grave of the decomposed body of 17-year-old Basseterre High School student Leanna Napoleon who went missing on May 9th. Napoleon’s death brings the number of murders in St. Kitts and Nevis to 15 for 2017.

Appeal Court Quashes Convictions of All Four Men in 2011 Kidnapping Case. Orders Re-Trial for 3.

The Court of Appeal has quashed the convictions of all four men in the infamous 2011 Kidnapping case involving the wife of a local banker. The cases against Jumana Walters, Clayton “Yellowman” Laws, Ali Percival, and Jermaine Riley were all quashed . Clayton “Yellowman” Laws, Ali Percival, and Jermaine Riley will however remain in prison as their cases were sent back down for retrial. Walters , however is now a free man as the appeal panel overturned his conviction.

Kidnap victim found in abandoned house

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – GILDA RAWLINS-VAUGHAN, the woman who was on Friday morning (Oct 28) kidnapped and held to ransom, was found by police this morning (Oct. 29) in an unoccupied house at the junction of East Park Range and Park Street opposite the building that houses the National Housing Corporation.
