Oprah Winfrey is considering running for President.

At least, this is what two sources close to the self-made mogul have said. The sources, who spoke to CNN under the cover of anonymity, said that Winfrey is “actively thinking” about running for president. This comes on the heels of her remarkable acceptance speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday, which is what initially triggered theories of her running.

The sources have also said that some of Winfrey’s confidants have been coaxing her to run for some months now, however, emphatically stated that she has not made up her mind.

A representative for Winfrey did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Democratic race for president won’t officially begin until after the 2018 midterms, but many potential candidates are already jostling for position and making trips to Iowa.

Following her electrifying speech after she won the Cecil B. Demille Award, “President Winfrey” was on everyone’s lips while “Oprah for President?” was trending on morning television.

Her hopeful message, “A new day is on the horizon” targeted the #MeToo movement, but many think it also doubles as a campaign rallying cry.

At the moment, it’s all speculation since Winfrey herself has not confirmed anything. However, her fans and celebrity friends have all displayed their support and hope that she runs following her speech.

Although Winfrey has deflected questions about a presidential run in the past, she has also acknowledged that President Trump’s election upended assumptions about how to pursue political office.

Even her longtime partner Stedman Graham was quoted as saying that she would possibly run. “It’s up to the people,” he told a Los Angeles Times reporter. “She would absolutely do it.”
In 2008, Winfrey had campaigned for Barack Obama and endorsed Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid in 2016.

During Clinton’s campaign, she discussed the prospect of a female president and said: “America, it’s about time that we made that decision.”
