Sugar Mas 47 Contestants and Participants’ Developmental Training Seminar
Thursday 1st November, 2018 (St. Kitts and Nevis) – Recently, the Contestants for the National Carnival Swimsuit, National Carnival Queen, and participants in the National Carnival Mr. GQ Competitions attended a Developmental Training Seminar on Etiquette, hosted at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel. This venue was selected because the Royal St. Kitts Hotel continues to be one of our leading Corporate Partners for Carnival, on a yearly basis.
The Workshop ran from 5 pm to 8 pm, covering topics ranging from Personal to Professional Etiquette. The Professional topical areas surrounded beliefs, attitudes, intentions, and behavioursrelated to being at one’s Workplace; during Telephone Communications; while at Social Settings; and while Dining.
The Objectives are plentifold. First, the Seminar is part of the Developmental Support that the St. Kitts Nevis national Carnival Committee provides yearly to Competitors.
As such, it helps to prepare Participants for the various Settings that they will encounter while traveling along the journey traversed by National Carnival Competitors. For example, how to greet Dignitaries; gleaning knowledge relatedto first class dining; practicing effective communications strategies; interviewing skills; etc. It also provides a forum for bon ding amongst the Participants. The session was facilitated by Noah Mills.
The Minister of Culture, The Hon. Shawn K. Richards, also had an opportunity to sit in on the Seminar. At the Seminar, he gave a motivational Speech for the Participants and then presented them with mobilization Checks to assist with their preparations for Sugar Mas 47. The Handing Over has been recorded as the earliest the Contestants have ever received mobilizations fees; that is, in October.
