Douglas’ successful overseas visit consolidates
Labour Party’s upcoming election victory
London-Dubai, October 12, 2019 – As the date for the next general elections in St Kitts and Nevis draws near, Leader of the Opposition and Political Leader of the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, the Rt Hon Dr Denzil L Douglas has secured commitments key commitments from overseas investors that will result in the creation of jobs, construction of a major hotel, a hospitality training school and improved healthcare for all citizens.
Dr Douglas left the Federation last week on invitation to visit a number of countries in Europe and the Middle East in preparing a blueprint for jumpstarting the economic engine of St Kitts and Nevis after the next general election.
News of the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s impending electoral victory has led to business and political leaders around the world reaching out to the incoming Prime Minister to forge relations that would redound to the benefit of St Kitts and Nevis, and partner countries.
While abroad, Dr Douglas engaged top leaders in Government and in the business sector to discuss such critically important development matters as expanding the tourism sector, providing a first-world healthcare system, expanding international trade thereby providing business opportunities for Kittitians and Nevisians, and revitalizing the St. Kitts and Nevis’ now-defunct Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP).
By all accounts, Dr. Douglas was very well-received as were the development plans for St Kitts and Nevis which he shared with political and business leaders.
Out of his overseas travels and high-level meetings, Dr. Douglas was able to secure key commitments that will redound to the creation of 3000 new jobs in the St. Kitts-Nevis economy, the construction of a major hotel and hospitality training school, and heavy investment in the healthcare infrastructure, over the next 4 years.
The above-mentioned commitments reflect the confidence that many global business and political leaders repose in the leadership of the man who is likely to lead the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis after the general elections due early in the coming year, 2020.
In remarks he made after the series of meetings he held while abroad, Dr. Douglas concluded: “Given the current state of the St Kitts-Nevis economy, it is critically important that as a Government in waiting, the St.Kitts-Nevis Labour Party create a blueprint to fast-track the social and economic revitalization of our country once the dust of the elections would have settled. This series of meetings is a testimony to the level of confidence we feel as a result of several political opinion polls conducted over recent years, the most recent one being in July-August of this year.”
