The St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) is excited to unveil the updated Road March judging policy for Sugar Mas 52, reflecting our commitment to fairness and the celebration of artistic excellence.

The SKNNCC has listened to the feedback from our talented musicians and engaged in thoughtful discussion and negotiation to refine our Road March policy. This amended policy reflects the committee’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and thrilling Carnival for all participants and spectators.

Judging Format and Criteria

The Road March will be evaluated on J’ouvert morning exclusively, with the competition being assessed in three distinct locations: The Circus, Bay Road (Pelican Mall), and Church Street.
Each contender’s 5 minute performance will be meticulously scored by three judges at each point, with a comprehensive 100-point system that appraises performance, music, lyrics, and crowd response.

Timeframe and Judging Parameters

The contenders will have a single round to impress the judges and the crowd, which will take place between the prime Carnival hours of 6-10am. To maintain the integrity of the competition, independent DJs will not be permitted to influence the scoring in any way, ensuring that the points are awarded strictly based on the contenders’ performances.

Resolution of Ties

In the vibrant spirit of Carnival, the SKNNCC seeks to celebrate a clear victor. Should a tie occur, the contender with the highest points in performance will be declared the winner.

Announcement of Results

The triumphant Road March song, which will become the anthem of Sugar Mas 52, will be announced by 9pm on 26th December.
