Successful Safety and Security Workshop Ahead Of 2024 St Kitts Music Festival

The St Kitts Music Festival (SKMF) engaged stakeholders at a two-day workshop focused on Safety and Security. This engagement took place on Wednesday, June 12, and Thursday, June 13, 2024, and involved members of the security and medical teams involved in the three-day (3) festival.

Some of the sessions focused on ways to strengthen emergency response protocols and delved into the improvement of customer service. In addition, greater collaboration between agencies that will be involved in the 2024 edition of the SKMF was a main talking point thattriggered intense and frank discussions.

Presenters at the workshop included Dr. Dwain Archibaldwho expounded on how his team responds to medical emergencies considering the large crowd and the flurry of activities. Fire Sub-Station Officer Pablo Gumbs, addressed Safety Hazards and how his organization will effectively deal with any such occurrence. Travis Rogers, Assistant Commissioner of Police, explained in detail the plan his organization will adopt in the unfortunate event of illicit activities.

With the St Kitts Music Festival expecting huge crowds, Captain Jervin Lapsey of the St Kitts and Nevis Defence Force shared his expertise on Crowd Management and Communication. Valencia Martin, a member of the Management Committee, gave a comprehensive overview of the accreditation process for the 2024 festival. Diannille Taylor-Williams, Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and International Transport added to the workshop’s engagement with a presentation on Customer Service. She outlined the support and assistance that will be given before, during, and after the festival. Adolph Adams, Head of the St Kitts Music Festival Security Committee then detailed the duties of the officers before thanking the Safety and Security teams assembled at the workshop.
