TROPICAL DEPRESSION COULD FORM AND PASS OVER OR NEAR THE AREA…
THE ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE CONTINUES TO MONITOR THE
PROGRESS OF TROPICAL DISTURBANCE AL94. THE SYSTEM HAS WEAKENED
OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS BUT COULD STILL DEVELOP INTO A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION AS IT PASSES OVER OR NEAR THE AREA ON FRIDAY.
BASED ON THE LATEST INFORMATION, THE RISK TO LIFE AND PROPERTY, IN THE
LEEWARD ISLANDS AND THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS, FROM WINDS AND
RAINFALL FROM THIS SYSTEM REMAINS LOW, BE AWARE; THE RISK FROM
LIGHTNING AND SEAS IS MEDIUM, SO BE PREPARED.
BE REMINDED THAT THE HURRICANE SEASON RUNS UNTIL NOVEMBER 30.
AT 2 PM ECT OR 1800 UTC, TROPICAL DISTURBANCE AL94 WAS CENTRED ABOUT
976 STATUE MILES EAST OF ST KITTS & NEVIS AND THE LEEWARD ISLANDS. THE
SYSTEM IS MOVING WEST AT ABOUT 17 MPH.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THERE IS
A 30 PERCENT CHANCE OF AL94 BECOMING A TROPICAL DEPRESSION IN 48
HOURS AND A 40 PERCENT CHANCE OF IT BECOMING A TROPICAL DEPRESSION
IN SEVEN DAYS; THIS IS DOWN FROM 60%.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERTS, WATCHES OR
WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR THE AREA AND THESE ARE UNLIKELY TO BE ISSUED
FOR THIS SYSTEM.
RESIDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR AND REMAIN PREPARED FOR THE
HURRICANE SEASON.
THE NEXT UPDATE WILL BE AROUND 3 PM TOMORROW, OR SOONER IF
REQUIRED.
