TROPICAL CYCLONE INFORMATION STATEMENT #1
The St. Kitts Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of
Tropical Storm (TS) Erin in the Atlantic Ocean.
TS Erin formed yesterday close to the Cabo Verde islands just off the coast of
Africa. TS Erin is expected to strengthen into a hurricane as it moves generally
to the west across the Atlantic Ocean towards the Caribbean.
The early projections indicate that the eventual eye should pass to the north
of the Leeward Islands by this weekend. As such, we are encouraging all to
closely monitor the progress of Erin. Additionally, as we enter the peak period
of the Atlantic hurricane season, it’s important to review your disaster plan. It
is too early to determine what impact, if any, TS Erin may have on the Leeward
Islands.
Currently, we are encouraging ALL to closely monitor the progress of TS Erin.
