FLASH FLOOD WATCH
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES 9:17 AM ECT THU, SEP 26, 2024
ANTIGUA, BARBUDA, MONTSERRAT, ST.KITTS AND NEVIS

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH WILL GO INTO EFFECT FOR FLOOD PRONE AREAS OF ANTIGUA, BARBUDA, MONTSERRAT, ST. KITTS AND NEVIS VALID FROM 10 A.M. TODAY UNTIL 4 P.M.THIS AFTERNOON. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT IMMINENT IN THE WATCH AREA. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
RESIDENTS IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD MAKE PREPARATIONS FOR FLOODING TO SAFEGUARD LIFE AND PROPERTY. THEY SHOULD BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IF FLOODING RAINS DEVELOP OR A FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS ISSUED.
A VERY ACTIVE TROPICAL WAVE OVER THE LEEWARD ISLANDS IS CAUSING PERIODIC MODERATE TO HEAVY SHOWERS. 2 TO 3 INCHES OR MORE RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE WITHIN 3 TO 6 HOURS; HENCE, MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING OF FLOOD PRONE AREAS IS POSSIBLE.
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE WEATHER SITUATION. PLEASE STAY TUNED TO LOCAL RADIO OR TELEVISION FOR WATCH UPDATES AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
