Thieves target National Bank’s ATM in St. Peter’s

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 17TH 2017 – Police and officials of the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank are tight-lipped over reports of another attempt to break into a National Bank ATM.

According to a reliable source an attempt was made on the evening of Sunday 9th July and early morning of Monday 10th July to break into the bank’s ATM at St. Peters’.

Although Police Crime Scene officers were seen around the ATM, there has been no statement from the law enforcement agency or from National Bank.

This is the third attempt in the past nine months that the National Bank ATM’s were targeted.

Last November thieves stole the entire ATM at the Vance Amory International Airport at Newcastle in Nevis.

The ATM which was situated on the outside the arrivals hall of the airport disappeared overnight on November 15 -16. It was not until mid-afternoon that the airport authority and bank personnel realised that the ATM had disappeared. It has not been found and no one has been arrested.

November 16, 2016, an attempt was also made to break into National Bank’s ATM at the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site near TDC’s Home and Building Department in Basseterre.
