POLICE RECRUITS SEE INCREASED OPERATIONS AS AN EARLY OPPORTUNITY TO PUT CLASSROOM LECTURES INTO PRACTICE

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 01, 2017 (RSCNPF): Recent Citizen Safety Operations by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force resulted in a break in the training cycle for recruits in Training Class Forty-One (41).
The recruits have been augmented to fill manning needs across the Police Service while seasoned Officers conduct the ongoing Citizen Safety Operations. Several Recruits have said that they welcome the break from the early morning Physical Training sessions, morning drill on the parade square and the long days in the classroom.
In speaking with the Recruits, the majority have expressed positively that the break has provided the opportunity to put into practice and to see firsthand the application of many of lessons covered in the classroom.

Recruit Sarita Richards of Sandy Point, expressed that she has been detailed to the Basseterre Police Station and over the last weeks, have had the chance to sharpen her skills in interacting with the community. She said, “I have learned what it will take for me to be successful while standing the duty at a station’s the front desk, I understand how important it is for me to ask the right questions, so we can gather the best initial information, how to prepare reports, I’ve learned how to fill out various documents and I have also learned how to handle and ensure the safety of persons who are in our cells.” She added, “my time so far has been rewarding.”
Vehicle Checkpoints around the island are more visible and manning one of those “VCP’s “is Recruit Aiden Hendrickson of Monkey Hill. “I love the chance to interact with the drivers, some are very cooperative and some can be challenging,” said Recruit Hendrickson. He went on to say, “The hours are long and sometimes a little boring, but I understand our role in Citizen Safety.” Recruit Hendrickson highlighted, “This break from training is only a break from the classroom, we are still learning. Every night I learn something new from the seasoned Officers I work alongside.”
Class Forty-One was scheduled for Graduation in September, an end of year graduation date is now anticipated
