MP Maynard gives Timothy Harris a failing grade; after nearly 3 years Harris is yet to serve the people

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 6, 2017 – The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis has been running off the several projects left behind by the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party administration of former prime minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.
SKNLP West Basseterre Member of Parliament, Hon. Konris Maynard said Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris is a colossus failure and since taking office nearly three years ago his Team Unity Government is yet to find its feet to serve the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“The country has simply been running off of the steam of the Labour party successes. From 6% growth just 3 years ago, we are now limping at under 3% and several projects which were under construction have been completed, slowed or halted. The SIDF is dead. The PEP has been dismantled. The REACH is no more. The common cry on the street is things are tight. Ease the squeeze,” said Maynard at a recent SKNLP press conference.

The first-term parliamentarian pointed out that while the Labour Party government “had a clear vision of how to move our beloved country forward, a selfish, uncaring, and grossly inept Government cannot yet find its feet to serve the people of our country.”

“Instead, the Harris Family Empire continues to expand taking away jobs from the ordinary man whether it is in trucking, heavy equipment, water, car rental, construction, ice and many other small businesses. Instead of attending to our people, Ministers of Government are exhausting their travel budgets after 6 months in the year. Instead of focusing on the fact that our once lauded platinum CBI program was number one across the globe, but now others can on global platform boast that they are now the platinum brand, our Prime Minister resorts to childish press conference rants about non matters simply in an attempt to hide his enormous failure as a Prime Minister,” said Maynard.

MP Maynard said if Dr. Harris were to demit office right now, “history will not record a single major accomplishment under his stewardship. Rather, it would say that Dr. Harris has failed as Leader of St. Kitts and Nevis, that there was no $500.00 per week minimum wage paid; it would write that he has managed a declining economy with no new vision and no new initiatives; it would write that more and more people are out of work. It would write that the youth only see a future of doom and no new opportunities for them; it would write that we went from #1 in the Caribbean to # bottom.”

He said the Labour Party has been tried and tested and has succeeded and excelled.

“It has now become clear that the Harris-led Administration has failed and that the only choice for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis is the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party,” said Maynard.
