Why is female football still an after thought to the SKNFA?

My heart pains as I look around and see how our female footballers are being treated. Gender inequality to the highest! I guess the colloquial term is true “who feels it knows it”.

Are we listening to our players? Are we truly rallying around them pushing them to be the best they can be? If the future of football is “feminine” why is it not being treated that way in SKN?

My observations

Local level
1. How can you start the Elvis Star Browne Women’s Football League without a proper opening ceremony?

2. How can matches be played when enough officials are not present? Sometimes one linesman or none at all.

3. How can these matches be played across venues with no proper changing area for females to change or use a restroom?

4. Since the league began I have not seen one member of the SKNFA executive present at any of the matches – oops could be their club wasn’t playing. But the SKNFA wants to hold these female players at ransom if they do not play for their clubs citing they cannot play for the national team but who are they playing for and playing to when there is a blatant lack of moral support from the SKNFA itself in the local league. The same rule apply for the males yea but how many things apply to the males but the females see none of it or get none of it.

5. How can you want to hold players accountable for their actions when the leading body of football in SKN is not fully holding up its end!!! How???? Are you saying do as I say but not as I do?

6. Still on the local female league which was not even advertised properly. The general public was not sensitized; some people are unaware that the league has started. If we want to see the attendance of female football be more attractive the work must me done from the Head in ensuring the same efforts made for other leagues in SKNFA are also placed on the Elvis Star Browne Women’s Football League.

National Level
Oh don’t even get me started here!!!!!!

7. U20 Championship is next week and still no Head Coach for the SKN team. I was informed that someone was to come in from overseas but I guess plans changed there. So my question is why can’t our females receive the same level of coaching as our males? Invest in our girls!!!!!!

8. Why is it that a weekend training camp for U20 females was arranged but players and parents weren’t notified until the night before and the morning of the camp at Timothy Beach Hotel. Many complaints were made as it was too much of a short notice. Our girls deserve better!!!!!

9. Why aren’t our female players given something to eat after national team training considering that they have worked all day or had school and came straight to training? What goes for the males should go for the females!!!!!

10. Why is it that there is a football bus parked on Lozack Road but female players are left to walk home at nights or catch bus after training for the National team? Utter nonsense!!!!

11. Why aren’t the female players on camp at the Marriott like the males leading up to the tournament? We know that money is there because once a country is hosting the FA will be given more money just to host the tournament.

If it were the males bet yourself they would have gone all out just look out for December with the friendly against Grenada. Names of players already posted on SKNVibes but where is the post with our female players with their names for next week. Double Standard!!!

When will female football in SKN stop being an after thought? Only around SKNFA elections I guess! Should CONCACAF and FIFA have to step in for that to happen? If an investigation is to be launched we know what will happen to football on a whole in SKN. Enough is enough! Our females are crying out!!!!

In closing I guess those in authority are just pushing the female agenda on paper to secure funding from the international bodies. But if you truly look within yourself and your organization you will see the injustice against female players.

Where is the voice that will call wrong WRONG and make a difference? Who will stand up for them? Cause we know they can’t stand up for themselves without being reprimanded for speaking out.

WHEN WILL THIS END??? WHEN WILL GENDER EQUITY BEGIN??? WHEN WILL FEMALE FOOTBALL IN SKN NO LONGER BE AN AFTER THOUGHT???
