SUGAR BOYZ EDGE THE BAHAMAS 1-0

The Sugar Boyz picked up their first win of the World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0
victory over The Bahamas at Warner Park on Tuesday June 11. The match played before a near
sold-out crowd, saw Ethan Bristow heading the ball into the back of the net in the 12 th minute.
The home side generated numerous chances but despite failed to capitalize. Coach Francisco
Molina while disappointing the team did not score more goals, still considered the result a good
one. “It is frustrating but it is three points at the end of the day. We could have made a statement
today. We did not. We missed two to eight chances,” Molina said.

FOUR TEAMS BOOK ROUND OF 16 SPOT IN FA CUP


Conaree Fireball International, Molineux, Trafalgar Southstars and Mantab each booked their
spot in the Round of 16 of 2024 SKNFA FA Cup with wins on the weekend in the preliminary
round played at the Cayon playing field. On Friday June 7 Mantab drubbed Rivers of Living
Water 6-1. Kimmel French scored four goals in the 2 nd , 7 th 17 and 29 th minutes for Mantab and
Eversley Davis scored two goals in the 25 th and 88 th minutes. Kwame Brown scored the lone goal
for Rivers in the 79 th minute from the penalty spot. In the other match on Friday Trafalgar
Southstars crushed 607 Construction Lodge Patriots 8-0 with goals from Trimar Samuel in the
22 nd , 80 th and 86 th minutes, Jabari Willet in the 20 th and 3 rd minute of first half stoppage time and
Akanye Samuel-Francis scoring a hattrick in the 47 th , 68 th and 78 th minutes.

SUGAR BOYZ READY FOR BAHAMAS CHALLENGE


After an adverse result last week, the Sugar Boyz are looking to get their Road to 2026
Campaign back on track when they host the Bahamas today at Warner Park at 4pm. After a final
training session at Warner Park Monday evening, Coach Molina expressed confidence the team
will be up for the challenge later today in the World Cup Qualifier against The Bahamas. “In
Costa Rica we played 38 good minutes and then we lost concentration…we are trying to get 90
minutes together,” the coach said. “The game is super important for us. Keeps us in the fight;
keeps us looking forward looking for the next qualifying window so that’s what we are focusing
on. The boys are working hard and we have a game plan behind us,” he added.

St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee Elects New President

Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, June 7, 2024 — The St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee
(SKNOC) convened a brief yet meaningful General Assembly last night, June 6, 2024, to elect a
new president following the passing of former President Alphonso Bridgewater.
The nomination process yielded one candidate, Mr. Dennis ‘Freddie’ Knight, who has served as
Vice President of the SKNOC for many years under the leadership of the late President
Bridgewater. With no other nominations, Mr. Knight was declared the new President of the
SKNOC.

THE ROAD TO 2026 BEGINS TONIGHT

The Sugar Boyz do battle with Costa Rica tonight in the first FIFA World Cup Qualifier for the
Road To 2026 Campaign. The players left St. Kitts and Nevis last week to Costa Rica ahead of
their match tonight, which begins at 10:30pm at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica. Coach of
the St. Kitts and Nevis Senior Men’s National Team Francisco Molina said preparations have
gone well and he is satisfied with the squad he selected for these qualifiers. “It’s a very balanced
team. We have two players in each position which gives a lot of competition and a lot of choices
to pick from,” Coach Molina said.
