Deputy Premier Hon. Mark Brantley spoke about the fire at Charlestown Secondary School
Whilst attending a community get together in Cane Garden last night, I received an urgent call that our beloved Charlestown Secondary School was on fire. I rushed to the scene and was pleased that our fire services responded early enough to control the fire before it consumed the entire school. I warmly congratulate our fire services team for their quick action.
However, we must all be extremely concerned that criminal elements have now turned their attention to destroying our places of education. I will not speculate as to whom or for what reasons. I appreciate that the misguided few wish to see all progress in Nevis stopped. I recognize that the misguided few revel in negativity about Nevis.
I appeal to all right thinking Nevisians to rally with law enforcement to protect and preserve what we have. Had that fire consumed CSS last night, it is ALL of us who would have suffered.
My appeal this Sunday morning is for all of us to repent of our sinful ways and cease and desist from these terrible actions which help no one and harm everyone. Let us work closely with our Police to ensure that crime in all its forms is defeated.
