Miss World 1993 has a message for young women
at Dr. Douglas’ 18th New Year’s Gala tonight (Friday)
Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 5, 2018 – Miss World 1993 and Member of Parliament (MP) in Jamaica, Hon. Lisa Hanna join the ranks of Caribbean and world famous icons to attend the annual New Year’s Gala hosted by the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, the distinguished Leader of the Opposition and of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP).
Miss Hanna, who also acted in the romantic comedy How Stella Got Her Groove Back and is also Miss Jamaica World 1993 and Miss World Caribbean, is expected to have a message for young women in St. Kitts and Nevis at the 18th New Year’s Gala this evening Friday 5th January 2018 in the Grand Ballroom of the posh St. Kitts Marriott Resort at Frigate Bay. The Gala begins at 6:30 pm.
Age is just a number and Hanna, who turned 42 years in August this year, sent social media into a frenzy when she shared a photo of herself showing off her fit body on the beach in a bathing suit.
“No place I’d rather be as I Give thanks for another year today,” Hanna wrote in the caption.
Lisa Rene Hanna, born August 20, 1975 and was crowned Miss World in 1993 at the age of 18, joins the likes of world-famous guests to grace Dr. Douglas’ New Year’s Gala.
They include prominent United States Congresswoman, the Hon. Maxine Waters; actress and Emmy Awards winner, Cicely Tyson of Nevisian parentage; Nation of Islam Leader, the Hon. Louis Farrakhan of St. Kitts parentage; Emmy Award Winner and Broadcaster, Del Walters; Founder and President of TransAfrica, Mr. Randall Robinson; African-American icon, musician and actor, His Excellency Ambassador Harry Belafonte; Publisher and founder of America’s Black Enterprise Magazine, Earl Gilbert Graves, Sr.; the late Prime Minister of Barbados, the Hon. David Thompson; former Jamaica Prime Minister, the Most Hon. P.J. Patterson; American actor, film director, and political activist, Danny Glover; American talk show host and author, Tavis Smiley, Kittitian-born Hon. Randolph Bennet; America’s well-known American journalist, syndicated columnist with Creators Syndicate, and author and former CNN contributor Roland Martin and St. Kitts-born Desmond Roberts, President of Advantage Chevrolet in Hodgkins, Illinois.
Hanna is the third Jamaican to proudly wear the title Miss World.
Dress is formal for this event and the contribution is EC$270 or US$100.
