The St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA) will kick off its highly anticipated 2018 Track and Field season this weekend with its first Development Meet on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium.

The association’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kilony Johnson noted that, “The 2018 track and field season is projected to be highly productive and competitive, and one that is lined with events the Kittitian and Nevisian public has become accustomed to. These include the popular the Interschool Championships and the Primary Schools Championships & Carifta Trials, the Giant Malt Relay Championships slated for later this month, the National Championships as well as the Kim Collins Invitational.”

The Development Meets remain an important part of the SKNAAA’s annual calendar of events as it provides athletes the opportunities to work on improving their forms and technicalities in relation to their respective events.

Sunday’s Development Meet, which is the first of 13 such events scheduled for this year, commences at 2:00 pm. It will feature events such as the 100m, 200, 800m, 4x100m relays as well as the javelin and long jump.

This will be the first meet held under the leadership of the new SKNAAA Executive, led by President Mr. Val Henry, which was elected at the association’s Quadrennial General Meeting on Saturday, December 9, 2017.

School buses will be available to transport athletes to and from the Athletic Stadium. One bus will depart Dieppe Bay traveling East while the other will leave from St. Paul’s traveling West. The school buses will depart their starting points at 12 noon.
