“LABOUR-Your Shelter & Protection”-Dr. Douglas
The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) has made a very symbolic and meaningful approach to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, illustrating their commitment to serve, protect and work for the betterment of the entire Federation.
The movement recently decided to distribute a number of ‘Labour’ branded umbrellas to the electorate with a very special meaning behind the gesture.
The distribution, which occurred at the 17th annual New Year’s Gala of the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, on January 5th, 2018, baffled many, as the gift of an umbrella was nothing close to the elaborate gifts patrons usually receive at the lush event.
However, persons were fulfilled having learned the gospel behind the simple gift.
During his annual Toast to the New Year, Dr. Douglas stated that the umbrellas were not merely meant to protect the people of St. Kitts from the rain or sun; ultimately, it served as a reminder of LABOUR’s immortalised vow to shelter and protect St. Kitts-Nevis from the hurt and trauma resulting from the tyrannical rule of Dr. Harris and his cabal.
“It is a significant demonstration that our people are crying out for shelter and protection from the viciousness of these times and they are asking that Labour return…”
Dr. Douglas went on to express that his annual gala is much more than just an event to dine in good company, but it is one “to ensure that we can lift ourselves, that we can look towards the future with hope, aspire that things would change, asking that there be continued protection and shelter from continued deterioration in St. Kitts and Nevis.”
Persons of the wider community were therefore challenged to keep hope alive and to stay focused on the positive changes to come under the SKNLP.
