Officer on the run from police
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Jan. 18, 2018 – THE police officer who was under internal investigation for the alleged shooting of the late Dominican-born officer, Brian Pacquette, has tendered his resignation and left the Federation.
That has resulted in the police classifying Dijorn Warner, as being a “fugitive”.
SKNVibes News was reliably informed that the officer was involved in an altercation in June last year with Gretson Isaac, that incident resulted in the individual being injured and treated at the JN France Hospital.
A report was subsequently made to the police and an investigation was launched into the incident.
At a press conference on Tuesday, law enforcement officers confirmed that the July 2016 shooting incident is still under investigation, as well as the altercation last year.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hilroy Brandy, in response to an SKNVibes question, confirmed that the officer is in the United States but could not address concerns raised about why the man was allowed to leave the Federation.
“To be frank, the gentleman has absconded and is presently in the United States. Police are doing the necessary due diligence to know exactly where,” Brandy said.
He explained that a warrant would be issued to have him returned to the Federation to face justice.
Commissioner of Police, Ian Queeley stated that the information that they had was that he “absconded, and it was not that he was given permission to travel”.
“The necessary action was taken: and yes, we have been in contact with our colleagues overseas; and the matter is under investigation,” he added.
According to Brandy, the police force has stopped paying the officer a salary.
CoP Queeley said the police have no time frame for when the investigation surrounding the death of the Officer Pacquette would be completed.
