JONEL POWELL HELPED OUT GARDEN HOUSING RESIDENTS FROM A SHITTY SITUATION
The garden Housing Project in Irishtown has been left in a shitty condition. This is just a part of the Team Unity government cleaning up the shit (pun intended) left by Dr Douglas and the labor party government.
Since taking over the country in 2015, Minister of health Hon Eugene Hamilton and the people’s action Movement representative for constituency #2 Mr. Jonel Powell, have met with and come up with a solution to address the shitty situation.
For years, this housing facility had been neglected by the Labor party parliamentary representative for constituency #2, Hon Marcella Liburd, who while in government, has done nothing to address the poor living conditions he constituents have to endure. For years, it has been reported that, residents have complained to the Hon Marcella Liburd about the stench and they have expressed great concern about their health and the health of their families especially their children who play in the area in the yard where there was a meandering overflow of floating human feces
In an exclusive interview on Freedom Fm in 2017, Hon Marcella Liburd openly admitted that she personally uses the constituency money allowance, given to her to be spent on community development to, buy wreathes for persons in her community.
Shouldn’t she have been using her own money to do this given that the people would think that the wreathes were coming from her?
One resident of the Gardens Housing, Narna Arthurton, indicated, “For 20 years nothing had been done to the Gardens Housing Project. The last time any work was done to the building was back in 1993 when Dr Simmonds was the PM.”
The elated resident who has lived there for over twenty five years continued, “Things were so bad here that it was through Mr. Jonel Powel we were able to have a meeting with Mr. Jones at NHC. He (Jones) and his team were shocked to see the rat hole conditions we, the residents, were living in after 20 years of Labor and Marcella doing nothing … we are very thankful to Mr. Jonel Powell who advocated on our behalf so that we were able to get tiles for the cupboards, toilets and other stuff. Jonel listened and then he delivered”, the very happy resident concluded with a glowing smile.
Photos show the open sewer before and after Jonel’s intervention.
