Women’s group urges victims to come forward
Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 7, 2018 – A group calling itself the Concerned Women of St. Kitts and Nevis has called on persons who have been the victims of sexual assault in the Chambers of the Attorney General to come forward with evidence.
Although Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris called the allegations of sexual assault in the Attorney General’s Chambers as “wild and outrageous” he called on Attorney General, the Hon. Vincent Byron Jr. to defend himself.
“I cannot speak for the Hon. Attorney General who is not here and I would expect the Attorney General, being a man of law, is better suited than I am to make his own defence,” said Dr. Harris when asked about the issue at his recent press conference.
“Persons who would prefer to make scandalous allegations about people, if they have evidence, they should take it to the appropriate authority rather than engage in political mudslinging,” said Dr. Harris.
“We The Concerned Women Of SKN therefore urge all to comply with the wishes of the PM,” said the statement on the weekend from the women’s group.
