St.Kitts edged By Las Vegas for Best Destination Award at Annual Routes Americas 2018 Awards

Gigantic win for the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, placing second in the 2018 Routes Americas Marketing Awards, for Excellence in Destination Marketing. St. Kitts went up against much larger destinations, including Las Vegas which placed first, Barbados, Hawaii, San Diego and Charleston.

Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) was announced as the overall winner of the Routes Americas 2018 Marketing Awards at a ceremony in Quito, Ecuador. St.Kitts was highly commended and  was edged by Las Vegas as the Best Destination according to the annual awards event.

The annual Routes Americas Marketing Awards are highly regarded in the aviation industry because they are voted for and judged by airlines. They recognise the outstanding marketing services that have supported the launch of new air routes or the development of existing services.

In addition to the overall winner, the awards are judged in four categories. Myrtle Beach International Airport topped the ‘Under 4 Million Passengers’ category; Oakland International Airport won the ‘4 to 20 Million Passengers’ category; Seattle-Tacoma International Airport scooped the ‘Over 20 Million Passengers’ category; and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority topped ‘Destination’ category.

St Kitts Tourism Authority were highly commended in the Destination category and was runner-up behind Las Vegas. St.Kitts Tourism Authority CEO Racquel Browne accepted the award on behalf of destination St.Kitts.

  • Winner: Myrtle Beach International Airport
  • Highly Commended: Reno-Tahoe International Airport

Destination

  • Winner: Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority
  • Runner-Up: Highly commended: St Kitts Tourism Authority

The 11th Routes Americas is taking place in Quito, Ecuador and is an opportunity to meet with senior decision makers from the region’s airlines, airports and destinations to discuss new market opportunities and the evolution of existing services. The Conference Programme includes a keynote interview with Juan Carlos Zuazua, chief executive of VivaAerobus.
