Dr. Drew’s Public Plea Rescues Staff From Contaminated Offices
Pressure from Dr. Terrance Drew and the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party has proven to be the saving grace for staff members of the Labour Department in St. Kitts. For months, staff of the unit were daily exposed to a host of health threats, including mold in their office spaces, until Dr. Drew lead the fight for their safety.
On several media platforms, verbally and written, Dr. Drew chastised Hon. Vance Amory, the Minister who oversees the department and his Permanent Secretary Ron Collins, for their inhumane and cruel actions and attitudes toward the staff members.
“They are committing serious atrocities with the health of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” Drew said in an interview.
Despite Hon. Amory and Collins claiming that nothing is wrong, Dr. Drew, an internal specialist by profession, pursued the matter, casting his full support behind the health of the workers and the credibility of the doctors who examined and diagnosed them accordingly.
Both Amory and Collins have since bowed to the pressure and were left no other choice than to relocate the staff. Over the weekend, workmen were seen clearing office equipment and documents from the contaminated office in the Treasury Chambers.
Sources confirm that the office has been relocated to the upper floor of the Amory Building on Victoria Road, which houses the Athletes Foot Shoe Store on the ground floor.
Some members of staff remain on sick leave as they continue to recover from the high percentage of mold in their systems.
