SKNAAA Salutes the Outstanding Career of Sprint Icon Kim Collins
by: Times Caribbean
The St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA) applauds the outstanding achievements of Kim Collins and the remarkable contributions he has made to the sport of track and field in St. Kitts and Nevis, and on the world stage.
This comes after Mr. Collins announced his retirement from track and field on Saturday, March 3rd after his participation in the 60m event at the 2018 World Indoor Championships, being held from 1st – 4th March in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The SKNAAA is convinced that Mr. Collins, the 2003 World Champion, has served as a beacon for athletics worldwide and an inspiration for the people of his home country of St. Kitts and Nevis.
We shall forever be grateful for his service to our nation, the sport, and our association, and look forward to working with him in coming weeks to help develop and nurture new talent, especially at the youth and junior levels, while still mentoring our senior athletes who are now making their mark in this great sport.
There is no doubt that Mr. Collins, a five-time Olympian, will be remembered as one of the greatest sons of this country and a hero in the eyes of our citizens for the work he did in putting this small Caribbean country of ours on the world map, and helping us to gain international respect on the track.
The SKNAAA wishes Mr. Collins the very best in the future and extend its appreciation to his family for allowing him to serve us with such distinction and honour.
