MARCELLA LIBURD PUTS HER PERSONAL INTEREST OVER THE PUBLIC’S INTEREST
Speaking at a town hall meeting at the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School in Molineaux Feb. 27, Prime Minister Dr Hon Timothy Harris attributed the dilapidated nature of the Ministry of Health to the incompetence and indifference demonstrated by Hon Marcella Liburd.
According to Dr Harris, the Hon Marcella Labour led government was not interested in having the MRI services offered by Dr Redmond to St Kitts. “Year after year Dr Redmond has been talking to Douglas, talking to Marcella in fact he offered to put the MRI up at JNF hospital and when they were too busy doing whatever they were doing but not the people’s business he [Dr Redmond] offered as an alternative, that he would put the MRI services at Mary Charles and when his adopted father came to me, I was then in the government, and he said, “what about Mary Charles if the government too busy?” I say, “Put it right up there in my constituency, right up there!”
The two-term serving Marcella Liburd has seen mayhem at the JNF hospital under her watch. There have been multiple shooting on the hospital wards and the lack of medicine had become the new normal.
Prime Minister Harris said that the ministry of health suffered because Hon Marcella’s interest was placed in her private law firm, which was contracted by the Labour Government of which she was a part, but showed no responsibility to the public who elected her. “And then I go and I talk to Marcella who said she had a couple things to do and she will come back to me on that”.
Dr Harris, with righteous indignation continued, “The couple things Marcella had to do was to bring the mortgage documents for the development bank in the cabinet table and she’s making corrections putting her private interest, ahead of the public interest. Marcella Liburd while being a minister of the government got her law firm Liburd and Liburd … they made 4 million dollars in legal fees from the Development Bank alone. Wickedness!
PM Harris condemned the former Minister of Health the Hon. Marcella Liburd for the decrepit state of the Mary Charles hospital. “How dare Marcella Liburd speak about Mary Charles when we came in 2015 the roof of Mary Charles fell in from neglect! It fell in as if a bomb had dropped in it. They have to move them out, not a single patient for months at the hospital because they neglected it”.
