THE PEOPLE’S FORUM TOWN HALL SERIES MOVES TO WEST BASSETERRE
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, March 12, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The Team Unity Administration will be staging its next town hall meeting at the St. Johnston Community Centre in La Guerite on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:30pm where ministers of government will once again present themselves to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and give an account of their stewardship.
Tuesday’s town hall meeting, the fourth in a series of meetings, which forms part of the government’s good governance and accountability agenda, will see presentations by Minister responsible for Agriculture, Health, National Health Insurance, Human Settlement et al., the Honourable Eugene Hamilton; Deputy Prime Minister, the Honourable Shawn Richards, and Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris. The meeting will be chaired by Senator the Honourable Wendy Phipps.
The upcoming forum comes on the heels of a highly successful meeting held at the Sandy Point Community Centre on Tuesday, March 6. At that event, a high number of residents in attendance who opted to speak, used the opportunity to commend the Team Unity Administration on its stellar performance in just three years in office.
Among those who lauded the performance of the government was popular calypsonian, Sylvester “King Socrates” Hodge. Hodge stated, “I am here to say thank you to the Government and all the folks who made things possible for all you have done over the past three years in keeping faith with the promises you made to the people and all that you have been able to achieve in terms of development in the country. I am very happy and honoured with the progress I have seen over the past three years.”
The government’s drive to attract new hotel developments, such as the Six Senses Resort and Spa at La Vallee Greens, also came in for applause from those in attendance.
“We want to congratulate Team Unity especially for the news we had on the weekend with the signing ceremony of the Six Senses Hotel, and Mr. Richards, Sandy Pointers are saying to you through me that we want most of those jobs…and when the construction starts, young men – the prime minister said tonight don’t say there aren’t any job opportunities – please go and apply,” Ms. Cyndie Demming said.
Tuesday’s town hall meeting at the St. Johnston Community Centre will be carried live on ZIZ Television (Channel 5), ZIZ Radio (95.9, 96.1 and 96.9 FM) and streamed at www.zizonline.com and via the SKNIS Facebook page.
