A refreshing relief from the derogatory diatribe from community centres in recent times
St. Peter’s, St. Kitts, March 20, 2018 – Tuesday night’s Town Hall Meeting held by the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) has been described as “a thought-provoking national discussion this was – a refreshing relief from the derogatory diatribe that drooled from the community centres in recent times.”
Social activist Shez Dore-Tyson in a blog on FaceBook said persons attending crammed the hall at the St. Peter’s Anglican Church Hall to hear the facts and truth of the downward spiralling St. Kitts and Nevis economy, the upward trending crime statistics and the peeling away of the social fabric and dignities that the country once enjoyed.

“The astronomical food prices, high level of unemployment, the dictatorship that has rooted and snouted its way into our democratic system, corruption and crime were some of the issues that the leaders hammered,” said Dore-Tyson.
She noted that residents of the usually calm community of Carifesta “had their evening’s quietude disrupted when hundreds of fearless Labour supporters, and some peevish PAM supporters as well, descended on the area to attend the meeting.
“From as far south as the Mango Tree to as far north as the Community Centre, vehicles lined the St. Peter’s road,” wrote Dore-Tyson, who further noted that the church hall belched the adult crowd onto the lawn as it was too much for it to ingest while agile youth clambered onto the window sills to be part of the in crowd.
“The audience was given the opportunity to question or raise new points and matters of the possibility of SCASPA sale, possible pollution of the Basseterre aquifer by the proposed ill-conceived BHS construction and constitutional reform were brought to the table,” she said.
The event climaxed on a hopeful nostalgic note at minutes past 11 with nationals feeling assured that the best for this country is yet to come.
