Charlestown, Nevis, March 31, 2018 – A Guyanese resident on Nevis has been confirmed as the Federation’s 8th murder victim for 2018.

Police have identified the victim as 27-year-old Marlon James of Brown Hill, whose body was discovered at Hamilton.

The Charlestown Police Station said it received a report of a body being found along a road in the Hamilton area at around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 31.

“There were signs of violence and multiple gunshots wounds about the body. The District Medical Doctor arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead,” a police statement issued Saturday afternoon said.

The Crime Scene Unity has recovered several items of evidential value. These are in the custody of the police investigators.

A reliable source said the body had severe burns and at least seven bullet wounds.

There is speculation James was killed elsewhere and his body dumped on the road in Hamilton and then burned.

A source said James was a potential witness in a court matter next week, but this could not be immediately confirmed.

Persons have urged persons with information regarding this incident to contact the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391.

James’ murder is Nevis’ third for the year and officially the federation’s 8th.
