PM Office: Dr. Harris trusts one cabinet minister; “deciphers” cabinet consensus
Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 28, 2018, – A few days after a public outcry over his derogatory statements in which he blasted his Cabinet colleagues, the Office of Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris issued a press release reiterating that only one of his Cabinet ministers can be trusted and the Prime Minister alone decides the consensus of cabinet decisions.

As WINNFM reported, political pundits have been questioning recent comments made by Prime Minister Harris regarding “wolves in sheep clothing” which are directed at his Cabinet colleagues amid rumours of internal conflict since the Peter Virdee alleged bribery scandal in which Harris is named broke.
Dr. Harris made the comments at a gathering in the heart of his constituency, Tabernacle, on Sunday May 20 amid reports there have been meetings to remove him as prime minister.
“You see some of them who of hustling they better understand one man in the land with the grace of God will determine election is Timothy Harris. If they want it tomorrow I will win in number 7! How many of them are ready?! Wolves in sheep clothing, many are they and as you mature you understand the nature of life. It is the work of the people that I have done so well which gave me confidence in 2015 to literally abandon my constituency and go in east, in west, in central, in 4, in 6, everywhere to deliver the seats for Unity. I did that! Ask the candidates who else were there, who else were there?! So when the wolves in sheep clothing think that they are ready….aah.
“So when some of them come with they mischief well Timothy only one. A one I be nuh, a one I be nuh? Is throughout the length and breadth of the country I mobilise voters into action. Patches will tell you. So if people meet they have a right to meet, if people meet on a boat, let them meet on a boat. Me nuh to see wid dat. For I ain’t never as the leader of Team Unity organized my leadership on the basis of mistrust nor fear.”
Following WINNFM’s coverage of Harris’ public assault on his Cabinet colleagues, the Office of the Prime Minister in a statement on May 23, took aim at the opposition in an effort to hoodwink and mislead the nation, but confirmed Harris’ disdain for all the other elected members of the Cabinet, except Senior Minister Hon. Vance Amory.
“Contrary to reports and claims purported by the opposition, his Team Unity Cabinet is well run and managed, where every member is free to express his or her views and that those views are respected by all “because we are a team, and I, as chair of Cabinet, has the job of deciphering where the Cabinet consensus is,” the PM Office statement said.
Reiterating he has no intention of stepping down, Dr. Harris heaped praise on one Cabinet member, referring to his Senior Minister Hon. Vance Amory as the “honourable member of the Cabinet.”
“My confidence in him has never one day been found wanting,” Prime Minister Harris sis quoted as saying. “Vance is an honourable man; a leader on whom you can depend. He brings the wisdom and experience and the selflessness in giving advice. You don’t have to second guess his motives and that is why in Cabinet with difficult matters, they would tell you I make sure Vance gives a word.”
Nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis at home and abroad are baffled by the statements and actions of Dr. Harris, the lone PLP parliamentarian, while the PAM has four seats and the CCM, two, a majority to form a government without Dr. Harris.
The scandal has already claimed one casualty, Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Investment and Trade, Hon. Asot Michael, who like St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister, is also named in a judgement in the British High Court, in which UK billionaire property tycoon Peter Virdee is accused of bribing Harris and Michael and other Caribbean politicians. Michael tendered his resignation from the Cabinet of Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne.
The court records show Harris allegedly begged a watch and a pair of shoes.
