What was said about St. Kitts in the Peter Virdee taped conversations
Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 30, 2018 – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister demanded a watch and a pair of shoes from British billionaire and property tycoon Peter Virdee.
Virdee makes the allegation in phone conversations with his business partner, Dieter Trutschler, on March 12, 2016, while Dr. Harris was in London on his way back from a visit to Dubai.
Virdee’s calls were secretly being intercepted by German law enforcement, and excerpts submitted as evidence in a United Kingdom (U.K.) High Court judgement.
In paragraph 12 of the court judgement dated May 11, 2016, Virdee alleges in his 12th March, 2016 conversation with Trutschler that the prime minister of St. Kitts was visiting and he was taking him and his entourage out to dinner that evening and then an after party but in the interim he would like a nice watch.
“And then he called me this morning and he said ‘have you got my watch,” said Virdee who spoke to Trutschler indicating that Harris in three or three and a half years would be seeking funds for the general election campaign.
Paragraph 13 documents a conference call involving Virdee, Truschler and the Antiguan Minister of Energy on July 12, 2016.
The transcript records an exchange between Mr. Virdee (V); the Minister (M) and Mr. Truschler (T).
Michael told Virdee, a director of PV Energy Limited, that he was getting him a job for a solar energy project in St. Kitts.
The three men discussed what Michael termed “a job in St. Kitts” which he said he was securing for the two men in St. Kitts and the three talked about how funds in the venture would be expended and divided.
At one stage, Virdee told Michael that Dieter Trutschler spoke to him and he (Michael) mentioned to him that he had originally asked for 50 percent, then 30 percent and Peter Virdee agreed with Asot Michael around 1.2 million.
Lets speak about St. Kitts said Asot Michael.
Also, in the document it is shown in the transcript before the British Court that the three men disagreed over a proposed payment of $2 million as part of the St. Kitts venture to an unnamed person only referred to as “our friend” by Virdee.
Asot Michael is recorded in the transcript as saying: “That is too much, come on give me a break. Peter. 2/3 million, come on.”
Peter Virdee said “he has already ask for two.
Asot Michael asked: Who? to which Virdee replied “Our friend.”
Asot Michael said: “You have no right to be entertaining discussions with him about that. We agreed.”
Peter Virdee: “I have not entertained a discussion with him. I am just telling you what he has indicated.”
Asot Michael said: “I mean he can indicate whatever the (expletive) he wants to indicate.”
Peter Virdee said: “Understood, but.”
Asot Michael asked: “He gets a million, they are lucky.”
After further discussion on the proposed St. Kitts project, Asot Michael said: “I am not working for nothing and you guys walk away with everything like in Antigua. I’m sorry.”
