Loaded gun found near body of murdered man
Charlestown, Nevis, June 2, 2018 – St. Kitts and Nevis Police said Saturday a loaded gun was found near the body of Jamie Chapman who was murdered Friday night.
Another person was injured in the incident which took place at Clay Ghaut about 9:45 p.m.
Police enquiries led to the home of Kimron Lawrence, a 32-year-old Chicken Stone resident where they found the lifeless body of 19-year-old Chapman lying in the yard with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.
“One Ruger revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition and one spent shell were found on the scene next to the body,” the police statement said.
Police found Lawrence in a room in the house with what appear to be a gunshot wound to his leg.
Chapman was pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer who visited the scene and odered the removal of the body.
Lawrence was transported to the Alexandra Hospital by the Emergency Medical Service where he is currently warded and being treated for his injury.
Police said investigations into the matter are ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391, 469-5392 or their nearest police station.
