CURACAO SEEKS HELP FROM ST. KITTS AND NEVIS IN FINDING FUGITIVE MURDERER
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Curacao is soliciting the assistance of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis in locating a dangerous fugitive who has allegedly committed several violent crimes in the Dutch islands, Curacao.
23-year old Quincley Emanuell Poppen is a suspect in the armed robbery and killing of a Chinese merchant in Curacao. Authorities in the south Caribbean island believe that he may have relocated and found refuge in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Poppen, who speaks fluent English, Papiamentu and Dutch, was 18 years old at the time of the incidents.
Dutch authorities say the armed robbery on the Chinese supermarket “Hua Jiant” in Curaçao took place on May 9, 2013.
The merchant was shot dead at close range in front of his wife and child. The incident was recorded by cameras in the store.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Curacao has issued a reward approximately $5,500 USD for information leading to Poppen’s arrest.
Poppen faces a maximum prison sentence of 18 years for theft with violence according to the criminal Code of Curaçao.
It is believed that Poppen has travelled between several Caribbean islands during his time on the run.
Recent sightings have placed him in St. Maarten and other nearby islands, however credible sources of information suggest that Poppen may now be hiding in St. Kitts & Nevis.
