IMF Officials Meet With Opposition Members, Economy & Other Matters Discussed
On Friday 29th June 2018, officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met with members of the Parliamentary Opposition to discuss matters of national importance to its members.
The Parliamentary Opposition raised a number of national concerns with the IMF officials and also expressed their views on the current status of the Federation’s economy.
In an effort to craft a balanced advisory report, the IMF officials keenly took note of the Opposition’s concerns over St Kitts-Nevis’ rate of economic decline, Dr Timothy Harris’ coalition administration’s failure to resolve the land-for-debt arrangement, the status of the citizenship by investment programme, and a host of other matters of great national interest.
The officials were largely receptive to the Opposition’s contributions on these matters and graciously thanked the members present at the meeting.
The Parliamentary Opposition, specifically the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, intends to discuss the details of this meeting in depth in the near future.
