PM HARRIS REFLECTS ON THE YEARS OF COOPERATION BETWEEN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ON JULY 4
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, July 9, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, in his capacity as Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, extended congratulations on behalf of the Government and people of the twin island Federation to all Americans in recognition of the 242nd Independence anniversary of the United States of America.

Prime Minister Harris expressed the words of commendation in a letter of congratulations to President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump.

In the letter, the honourable prime minister stated, “This day, July 4, marks the birth of your nation from the doldrums of colonialism, a common historical peculiarity which our nations both share. As such, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis greatly appreciates the strides made, and superb achievements made by your country over the past two centuries.”

“As I reflect on our relations, our nations have enjoyed a history of cooperation and mutual respect which have translated into vibrant commercial links, people to people contact, cultural exchanges and American aid to the Federation,” Prime Minister Harris stated, while adding that the partnership between St Kitts and Nevis and the USA has withstood the test of time and continues to be strengthened.

Dr. Harris further stressed that the United States of America has always been a source of strength and support to the nations of the Western Hemisphere, and a beacon of light and hope to the entire world.

Prime Minister Harris added, “As a promoter of peace and democracy, we continue to support the United States in its valiant efforts in championing these principles across nations that lack these structures.”

The prime minister ended his letter by wishing President Trump and the American people much success and prosperity in the future.
