SKNNCC Containers and Revenues Release

After investing in several Containers in 2016, the St. Kitts Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) continues to reap benefits from procuring said Assets.    The 20-foot and 40-foot Containers were first used for Sugar Mas 45 and again, for Sugar Mas 46, at the Circus.    Vendors were able to operate their Carnival Bars/Booths from said Containers.  This Model provided multiple benefits.  First, is that of safety and security.  Each Vendor provided his/her door locks, thus they were able to better protect their inventory and equipment.   Secondly, the standardized appearance of the Booths and the surroundings added more pleasing aesthetics to the Carnival Village.  Further, Vendors were able to save money as they no longer had to rent transportation to deliver their inventory and equipment to and from the Vending Spots twice per day.  Additional savings were accrued also from them not having to rent Tents to provide shelter for their operations. Yet another benefit was the relief Vendors gleaned from not having to pack up and break down their operation daily.

The Carnival Committee has also gained income from renting the Containers. For example, the Ministry of Sports has rented them for Athletic Meets in Cayon, Verchilds, and Sandy Point, plus at CPL for the last two years.  The SKNNCC has also leased some of the Containers on a short-term basis, which created a new stream of income.

Recently, the SKNNCC engaged Daniella Batalla, an internationally-renowned Painter, to coordinate a Summer Training Program to beautify the Containers with Paintings of our Folklore.  Ms. Batalla also coached nine (9) Secondary Students in the Art of Creative Painting. The Students were tutored and guided through the painting process, where Clowns, Masquerades, Bulls, Drums, and other Folklore-related designs were painted on the Containers.   The Students were Brittny Martin and Kariema Mitcham from the Cayon High School,   Jahphill Liburd, Jaeda Aurthurton and Brandon Esdaille  from the Verchilds High School, and Akeja Morton, Deverson Connor and Anique Ward from the Charles E. Mills Secxondary School.

This Summer Painting Course was done in time for the 2018 CPL, where 6 Containers with these new Paintings were showcased on the West Mound at Warner Park.  Apart from the rental fees collected, the SKNNCC was able to market National Carnival to the entire World, each time the Camera focused on the strategically-located Bars/Booths, beaming our Carnival Logos, Dates, and Images to all corners of the World.    This, in and of itself, is advertising that is absolutely invaluable.

The SKNNCC thanks all of the Stakeholders who contributed to the Painting Project and all Supporters.  See you this year for Sugar Mas 47
