Mansion teams win in ‘Boys on the Ground’ James Harris T20 Cricket League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 11, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — After a week’s break to facilitate players, officials and local fans watch the St. Kitts-Nevis Patriots taking part in the Caribbean Premier League matches at the Warner Park Stadium, the ‘Boys on the Ground’ James Harris T20 Cricket League resumed on Sunday September 9 at the Mansion Stadium.

With two games on the card, two home teams Back Street and Front Street Limers dismissed their opponents to each earn maximum points. Back Street beat Guyanese by 31 runs in the first game of the afternoon while in the second game, which was reduced to 16 overs, Front Street Limers beat newcomers HMP Ballers by 36 runs.

In the first game between Back Street and Guyanese, Back Street batted first and made 95 all out in their 20 overs. Emson Davis made 21 and Glen Rogers 14. Bowling for Guyanese, Vinshaw Manga took 3 for 19 and Wilton Edwards 2 for 13.

Guyanese batting, they were 64 all out in 18 overs with Titin making 24 and Justus Victor making 13. For their part, Back Street’s bowling saw Phillip Webb take four for six, and Emson Davis taking two for eight leaving them to win by 31 runs.

The second game of the afternoon, between Front Street Limers and HMP Ballers, was reduced to 16 overs in the interest of time. Limers batted first and made 115 for five from the 16 overs, with Ansel Revan making 36 runs, Kenneth Hazel 25 runs, and Alphonso Hendrickson 22. In their bowling, HMP Ballers saw their Llewellyn Jones take three for 15.

When it came to HMP Ballers’ batting, they had 79 for seven from their 16 overs which saw Marvin Matthew making 28, James Allen 15, and Spencer Isaac 14. Bowling for Limers, Kenneth Hazel took two for 28 and Alphonso Hendrickson two for eight. Front Street Limers won the game by 36 runs.

Play resumes in the afternoon of Sunday September 16 at the same venue, Mansion Stadium. In the first game Front Street Limers will face Christchurch, while the second game will be between Back Street and Lodge.

According to the ‘Boys on the Ground’ James Harris T20 Cricket League coordinator, John Palmer, local support for the league has been encouraging and is calling out on more persons to turn on Sunday September 16 as the two games promise to be exciting.
