Giants is the domino club to watch in Constituency Number Seven Domino League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 21, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — The second round of the round-robin stage in the 23rd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition is at a stage where teams are fighting tooth and nail to remain relevant. Giants Domino Club is certainly living to its name.

While the defending champions Lodge and the immediate past champions Unity are trending on a slippery path and would have suffered some unexpected losses, Giants is a team that has shown what it takes to be a giant-killer. Having lost only one game in the second round, the team has won five games in a stretch including the disembowelling of a hapless Christchurch 13-2 on Thursday September 20 in a game played at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project.

The night of Thursday September 20 is one the big boys will want to forget in quick time. Beers delivered yet another intoxicating blow, this time to Unity at the latter’s den, Cuban Bar, by beating them 13-10. Saddlers were at home in Constituency Number Six when they showed scant respect to the defending champions Lodge whom they convincingly beat 13-9.

In other games played on Thursday, Molineux beat Guinness 13-7 at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux; Parsons using their home advantage at Bradshaw Bar in Parsons Ground narrowly beat Unstoppable 13-12, while Small Corner Bar beat newcomers Phillips 13-10 in a game played at Domino House in Mansion.

In games played on Tuesday September 18, Unstoppable beat Saddlers 13-7 in Saddlers; Small Corner Bar beat Christchurch 13-12 at Domino House in Mansion; visiting Parsons caused havoc at Cuban Bar in Lodge Project by beating home team Unity 13-12; Lodge beat Molineux 13-8 at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux; Giants beat Sylvers 13-8 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project; while newcomers Phillips upset home team Guinness 13-6 at Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village.

The passage of Tropical Storm Isaac interfered with the schedule of play on Thursday September 13, as only two games were played out of the six games on the card. Christchurch beat Guinness 13-8 at Domino House in Mansion; and Giants beat Unstoppable 13-7 at the at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux. Then on Sunday September 16 when the two Constituency Number Six teams met on their own turf, Saddlers beat Parsons 14-11 in a game played at Bradshaw Bar in Parsons Ground.

According to Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League coordinator, Calvin Farrell, the outstanding games between Unity and Lodge; Beers and Phillips, and Small Corner Bar vs. Sylvers will be played before the seventh segment of the second round will be played on Tuesday September 25.

Action in the seventh segment of the second round will be at four centres. Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village will host two games, Molineux vs. Beers, and Unity vs. Guinness, as will the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project – Parsons vs. the new giant-killers Giants; and Small Corner Bar vs. Lodge. The Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux will have Sylvers coming up against Unstoppable, while Domino House in Mansion will be the venue for the game between Saddlers and Christchurch.
