PRIME MINISTER HARRIS TO ADDRESS UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2018
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 27, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, is scheduled to make his highly anticipated presentation to the General Debate of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, September 27, 2018.
The General Assembly is the main deliberative policymaking and representative organ of the United Nations. The theme of the General Debate is “Making the United Nations relevant to all people: global leadership and shared responsibilities for peaceful, equitable and sustainable societies.”
Prime Minister Harris is expected to make his presentation at 3pm.
The honourable prime minister’s address will be carried live on ZIZ TV (Channel 5) and ZIZ Radio (95.9, 96.1, 96.3 or 96.9 FM).
Prime Minister Harris’ UN presentation comes amidst a busy schedule in New York where he has participated in several side events, which addressed the challenges of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). These included a breakfast meeting of CARICOM Heads where the “Caribbean Moves” campaign was launched, a Multi-stakeholder panel of the Third high-level Meeting of the General Assembly on the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs), as well as a World Health Organization (WHO) event, held under the theme, “Time to Deliver: Combating NCDs is a Political Choice.”
