National player Jaheel Clarke shines in ‘Boys on the Ground’ James Harris T20 Cricket League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 1, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — When Lodge Cricket Club met Guyanese Cricket Club on Sunday September 30 at Mansion Stadium in the on-going ‘Boys on the Ground’ James Harris T20 Cricket League, national player Jaheel Clarke replicated the brilliance that enabled the St. Kitts Cricket Team bring home the Leeward Islands 50 Overs Tournament trophy.

Still basking in the glory of being a member of the St. Kitts National Team that recently returned from Montserrat where it won the Leeward Islands 50 Overs Tournament title for the third consecutive year, Jaheel Clarke was in no compromising mood when his team, Lodge Cricket Club dismissed Guyanese Cricket Club by 15 runs.

It was a must win game for the two teams which are in Group B, as the winner would then proceed on to the last four. Guyanese won the toss and sent Lodge in to bat. The batting team made 118 for 6 in their 20 overs, with Jaheel Clarke making 65 and Keithly Gaskin 16 not out. Bowling for Guyanese, Blacko took two for 13.

In the Guyanese batting, the team was 103 all out in 17.3 overs. Blacko made 32, Alvin Cyril 17, and Ajay 15. Bowling for Lodge, Leslie Thompson took two for 14, and S. Morton took two for 4. Lodge won by 15 runs. Umpires for this exciting game were Wycliffe Mitcham and Elisa Claxton.

After playing three games each in Group B, Back Street and Lodge ended up with four points each, but due to a better run rate, Back Street are leading in Group B, followed by Lodge. The other two teams in Group B were Tabernacle and Guyanese who ended up with two points each.

The last game in Group A, played on Sunday September 23, between HMP Ballers and Molineux was reduced to 15 overs due to inclement weather. Molineux batted first and made 70 for 9 in their allotted 15 overs, where Joseph Tyson made 20 and Kolis Duke 15 runs. Bowling for HMP Ballers, Lewis took three for three, Llewellyn Jones took two for 13, and James Allen took two for 12.

When HMP Ballers took to batting, they ended up with 58 runs for seven from their allotted 15 overs with Steadroy Jules 13 not out. Bowling for Molineux, Joseph Tyson took three for six, Ronald Louie Williams took two for nine, and Quincy ‘Puppet’ Taylor took two for ten. Molineux won by 12 runs.

In the end after all the teams would have played three games each, Front Street Limers were top in Group A with six points, followed by Molineux with four points, Christchurch with one point, and HMP Ballers with one point as well.

The ‘Boys on the Ground’ James Harris T20 Cricket League has reached the final four stage, where the four teams will meet each other in six exciting matches. According League coordinator John Palmer, the first two matches will be held on Sunday October 7 at the Mansion Stadium.

The winner in Group A, Front Street Limers, will come up against second placed team in Group B, Lodge in the first game. The second game will feature Group A’s second placed team, Molineux, coming up against the winner of Group B, Back Street.
