SOFTWARE AND TRAINING UPGRADES TO ENHANCE POSTAL EFFICIENCY
Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 23, 2018 (SKNIS): The technological innovations being introduced to the postal service in St. Kitts and Nevis have been welcomed by Rhonda Williams, Deputy Postmaster General in Nevis.

Ms. Williams is among a number of postal employees attending an October 22 to November 02, 2018 workshop on the use of the latest software for international mail management, the International Postal System’s IPS Post.

The workshop comes on the heels of four training sessions on the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) software, which is a computerized Customs Management System covering most foreign trade procedures. Postal workers from St. Kitts and Nevis also participated in the training that was held on Saturdays during the month of October.

“Through innovation and modernization, the three-dimensional postal network of physical, financial, and electronic services can assist the following: “governments in becoming more efficient; micro, small, and medium enterprises through its widespread geographic reach, and also citizens by ensuring that universal and multichannel services reach everyone in society,” Ms. Williams said.

While addressing her fellow participants at the opening of the IPS Post workshop on Monday, October 22, she added, “It is therefore imperative that each of us ensures that the post, as an important national infrastructure, is transformed as part of the digital transformation that is realizing the fast death of geographical distance.”

Ms. Williams said that the support of the local government to transform the postal environment is clear, given the investments that are being made in digital systems. She stated, “It is for all the other stakeholders and (postal) staff to come onboard and pledge our support in moving forward.”

The IPS Post training is being held at the National ICT Centre.
