Defending champions Lodge finally in finals of Constituency Number Seven Domino League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 26, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Defending champions Lodge led from the start on Thursday evening October 25 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Village, and dispatched Unstoppable 13-5 in quick time, to book a place in the finals of the 23rd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition.

This was real sweet revenge by the defending champions, as Unstoppable had almost spoilt the party for them in their spirited endeavour to reclaim the title they wrestled from Unity last year. After the two teams would have sailed into the semi-finals, Lodge beat Unstoppable in their first encounter of Best of Three finals 13-4 on Thursday October 18, but in their second encounter on Tuesday October 23 Unstoppable stopped Lodge in their tracks and the champions went down narrowly, 12-13.

It was a high tension match that did not last long, as the final score was recorded at 9:43 pm which is quite early for a championship domino match. It is a match that saw champions Lodge post three sets of double point, while Unstoppable posted two sets of double points. Lodge had opened the floodgates for double points as when the first scores were tallied, they led 2-0.

They added a single point to take the match to 3-0, after which Unstoppable showed that they were not ready to go down without a fight as their first score was also a double to take the match to 3-2 in favour of Lodge. Lodge added two single points and then reported a double taking the score to 7-2. Both teams added a single point each before Unstoppable posted another double to take the match to 8-5 in favour of Lodge.

Unfortunately, that was the best Unstoppable could do on a night they were under intense pressure from the galloping defending champions who added two single points, then a double from table two and in less than a minute table one added a single point to take the match to 12-5 in favour of Lodge. At 9:43 pm, table two of McAllister Thomas and O’Niel Thomas returned the final single point that gave them the 13-5 win.

With the final point returned by Lodge, scorer Hope Bradley announced: “Game! It is done.” McAllister Thomas and O’Niel Thomas were adjudged the match’s MVPs. The team will now take a week’s rest before its players return to the Lodge Community Centre on Thursday November 1 to face the other finalist, Parsons Domino Club from Constituency Number Six, in a best of three finals duel.

Tuesday October 30, Lodge Community Centre will be the venue of two crucial matches. Unity will be facing Unstoppable for the third and fourth place in the 23rd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition, while Sylvers will be meeting Molineux for a semi-final match in the Best of the Rest competition.
