*MP Marcella Liburd To Represent Federation At World Women’s Conference In London*
Hon. Marcella Liburd, elected official for St. Christopher two, will represent St. Kitts and Nevis in London at the World Women’s Conference for Elected Female Parliamentarians.
Hon. Liburd, who is also the Deputy Leader of the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, is attending the event on a personal invitation from the government of the United Kingdom. She leaves the Federation today, November 6th to attend the conference which begins tomorrow, November 7th and will continue on November 8th.
The conference is being held apart of commemorative activities for the 100th year for women being able to vote, since 1918. The sessions will be held in the House of Commons.
The event is being held under the theme “Strengthening visibility; Driving Change”, and will see female parliamentarians from around the world advocating for greater participation of women in parliament and public life in general. The participants will also look at a number of challenges being faced by female parliamentarians and ways to overcome them.
Briefly, Hon. Liburd stated that she is delighted to represent the Federation at such a historic conference.
Hon. Liburd will also use her time in London to meet with Kittitians and Nevisians living abroad.
